While I had lots of toys as a child, the ones to which I always gravitated were my toy soldiers.  My Marx Navarone and Iwo Jima playsets were the crown jewels among my remarkably eclectic collection of plastic soldiers.  As a child, I wasn't bothered in the least to mix and match my eras.  So what if some of my G.I.s squared off against the Nazis  with a few M-16s?

As an adult, my battalions found their way into a plastic tub tucked away in a storage building.  My Navarone and Iwo Jima mountains fell victim to a generous mother who decided they would be fun for her grandson (my nephew) who took them from grandma's, never to be seen again.  Life moved on, and I had neither time nor space to call the troops into formation again.

Now that I am well into middle age, the toy soldier bug has apparently returned.  After finding various blogs about toy soldiers (with special credit given to a particular post on Mannie Gentile's Toy Soldiers Forever!) I have begun to return to a hobby that gave me countless hours of fun in my youth.

I don't have any idea how frequently I will post here.  But I have started work on a few bits and pieces of ACW work that I hope to later turn into something of greater-than-table-top proportions. Even if my grand visions never come to fruition, I will certainly enjoy my time tinkering.
